How to actually stop overthinking and DO that thing
Skip the online guru advice. It's not working. Here's how to actually stop overthinking, and finally do that thing.
There’s a lot of advice online about how to stop overthinking.
But, you still do it.
I do it too, sometimes.
The trick isn’t how to get rid of the habit.
It’s how to control it. And it’s a skill that you learn.
Learning this skill is how I went from launching my first product in 6 months to launching my second in 14 days.
It’s called Pentest List, and it launches today. I’d appreciate all the support you could give. Thank you 🙏
The 3 traits of highly successful people
Alex Hormozi described it best.
Highly successful people tend to have these 3 personality traits:
A superiority complex
Insecurities and self-doubt
Impulse control
Now, you might not want to be “highly successful”, but if you want to achieve any level of success the model still rings true.
Boiled down, you need:
Something to chase
Something to run from
The self-control to do the things you know you need to do
The last point being the most important.
You need to know what you need to do
You already know what it is.
But keeping it in your head won’t work.
Get it down on paper. Create a plan. And then follow through.
If you want a model to copy, here’s how I built Pentest List in 14 days.
I broke every step down into:
What it is
How long it’ll take
Start date
End date
Now, you don’t have to read this but I’ve included it for total transparency.

Pentest List’s MVP development plan
These 20 rows were enough to build a fully-fledged social directory platform.
Keep it minimal.
Eliminate the crap
Now you know what you need to do, and you’ve got it down on paper.
Just do it.
Anything else that comes up along the way needs to be asked:
Will it add significant value?
Will it be quick to implement?
If the answer to either of those questions is no, eliminate it.
There is always a time and place for these things to come back around later.
Until then, eliminate the crap.
You need to PEE
No, this isn’t some sort of hypnosis via newsletter.
You need to:
Plan
Execute
Eliminate
If any of these steps is skipped, it’s going to be a challenge.
Don’t make it harder for yourself.
Now, go and do that thing.
